Last week’s trivia question was, Who is the oldest woman EVER to serve in the Senate?

The answer is Rebecca Felton.  A Democrat from Georgia, she was appointed by Gov. Thomas Hardwick on Oct. 3, 1922, when she was 87 years, nine months, and 22 days old.  Appointed to fill a vacancy, she served all of one day; Walter George, who won the special election for the vacant seat, was sworn in on Oct. 4th.
