Last week’s question was, Who was the last Supreme Court nominee who had previously sought public office?

The answer?  Harriet Miers.  Miers, the White House counsel to President George W. Bush, was nominated by Bush to the Supreme Court on October 3, 2005 but, with it becoming clear that she was in way over her head, she asked the president to withdraw her nomination 24 days later.  Back in 1989, Miers was elected to a two-year term as an at-large member of the Dallas City Council.

The randomly selected winner is Benjamin Ballou of Dobson, N.C.  Benjamin wins the coveted and curious Political Junkie button.
