This Week’s Trivia Question

Cindy McCain may be on the list of possible successors to her late husband, but the odds are against it.  Still, it leads to this week’s trivia question:  Who was the last senator to die in office and be replaced by his widow?

Submit your answer in the box below. We’ll pick a winner at random from the bunch. The winner will get a fabulous Political Junkie button. And don’t forget to sign up for our Political Junkie newsletter. You’ll get all the latest from Team PJ every issue.

The previous trivia question was:   Who was the last former governor to regain his or her job after a period of absence?

The fact is, there are THREE correct answers.  Jerry Brown of Calif., Terry Branstad of Iowa, and John Kitzhaber of Ore. all returned to their respective governorships in 2010 after having previously served.  So we accepted any of the three answers.

The randomly-selected winner is Jon Shecket of Columbus, Ohio.  He picked Jerry Brown. Jon wins the coveted Political Junkie button.
