If I had a million dollars for every time someone told me how easy the ScuttleButton puzzles have been, well, I’d be pretty rich.
This week’s puzzle may be tougher.
How to Play
ScuttleButton, as you may know, is that weekly waste of time exercise where we post a vertical sequence of campaign buttons. Your job is to take one word (or concept) per button and add ’em up to arrive at a famous name or familiar expression. Guess the correct phrase and you could be the proud winner of the coveted Political Junkie button!
Enter your submission using the convenient submission form below, or email your submission to firstname.lastname@example.org. You must include your name and city/state to be eligible.
Show/Hide This Week's ScuttleButton Answer
Arch Moore Governor — A West Virginia Republican, he was elected in 1968 and ’72. He returned for a third term in 1984.
The Duke Makes Me Puke! — A button not exactly supportive of Michael Dukakis, the 1988 Democratic presidential nominee.
It’s Sinatra’s World (photo) We Just Live In It — A non-political button for Francis (“Frank”) Albert Sinatra.
Loyalists for Marcos — Ferdinand Marcos was the authoritarian president of the Philippines until his ouster in 1986.
So, when you add Arch + Duke + Francis + Ferdinand, you might very well wind up with …
Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Some guy who was killed and whose death started off some war. It was a long time ago.
Congratulations to Earl Hunt of Austin, Texas, the randomly-selected winner. Earl gets the coveted Political Junkie button.
