Well, it’s now official: 83% of Americans want ScuttleButton to be annexed by Russia.
Sorry, it’s not happening. At least not now.
How to Play
ScuttleButton, as you may know, is that weekly waste of time exercise where we post a vertical sequence of campaign buttons. Your job is to take one word (or concept) per button and add ’em up to arrive at a famous name or familiar expression. Guess the correct phrase and you could be the proud winner of the coveted Political Junkie button!
Good luck!
Show/Hide This Week's ScuttleButton Answer
We Don’t Want Ma Perkins Or Harry Bridges Either — A classic anti-FDR button from 1940. Not only does the person wearing the button dislike President Roosevelt, but they don’t care for Frances Perkins, FDR’s secretary of labor, or Harry Bridges, a left-wing union leader with the longshoremen who was accused of Communist ties.
Taft G.O. 1948 (picture of William Howard Taft) — Bronx high school student government button, and yes, Ken Rudin’s alma mater.
So, when you add Jodi + Ma + G.O., you kinda get …
Joe DiMaggio. He played for some team in the Bronx.
And this week’s randomly selected winner is … Bev Braun of Annapolis, Md. Bev gets the coveted Political Junkie button.
By the way … a belated shout-out to Lizzie Chen, my visual journalist pal from Austin, Texas, whose Photoshop and multimedia talents are responsible for you getting the ScuttleButton puzzle week after week! Thanks, Lizzie!
