With every trick there is always a treat. At least today. Hopefully, you saw our Halloween “Button of the Day” on Instagram. Now it’s time to solve this week’s ScuttleButton puzzle.
How to Play
ScuttleButton, as you may know, is that weekly waste-of-time exercise where we post a vertical sequence of campaign buttons. Your job is to take one word (or concept) per button and add ’em up to arrive at a famous name or familiar expression. Guess the correct phrase and you could be the proud winner of the coveted Political Junkie button!
Enter your submission using the convenient submission form below, or email your submission to firstname.lastname@example.org. You must include your name and city/state to be eligible.
Matus Matters — Have no idea who this button is for. Anyone know?
Reagan/California’s Favorite Son — 1968 Republican presidential hopeful.
Throw the Bum Out/Organize to Fight! — Anti-Nixon button, circa 1973-74.
Roosevelt Garner — The successful Democratic presidential ticket in 1932 and 1936.
So, when you combine Matus + Son (or sun) + Bum + Garner, you may wind up with …
Madison Bumgarner. The San Francisco Giants pitcher and the 2014 World Series most valuable player.
And the randomly selected winner is … Paul Hughes of Sacramento, Calif. He is this week’s ScuttleButton most valuable player. And he gets the Political Junkie button.
