I’ve decided that I can absolutely pardon myself for such a lame ScuttleButton puzzle this week.
How to Play
ScuttleButton, as you may know, is that weekly waste-of-time exercise where we post a vertical sequence of campaign buttons. Your job is to take one word (or concept) per button and add ’em up to arrive at a famous name or familiar expression. Guess the correct phrase and you could be the proud winner of the coveted Political Junkie button!
Enter your submission using the convenient submission form below, or email your submission to scuttlebutton@krpoliticaljunkie.com. You must include your name and city/state to be eligible.
Show/Hide This Week's ScuttleButton Answer
Thanks Cal — Cal Ripken Jr., the outstanding Baltimore Orioles shortstop, retired in 2001 after 21 seasons.
We Luv McGov — George McGovern was the 1972 Democratic nominee for president.
Kumquats Make You Horny — Speechless.
A — An often used (overused?) ScuttleButton item, this is a symbol for Anarchists.
New York’s Prime Candidate/Bob Wagner — Wagner, a former three-term mayor of NYC, attempted a comeback in 1969, but he lost the Democratic primary to Mario Procaccino.
Mary Mochary U.S. Senate — She was the Republican challenger to Sen. Bill Bradley (D-NJ) in 1984.
So, when you combine Cal + Luv + Horny + A + Prime + Mary, you kinda get …
California Primary. Which indeed did occur on June 5th.
And the randomly selected winner is … Louisa Bushey of Florence, Mass. Louisa wins the coveted Political Junkie button.
